If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring three accessories with you…which would you choose? For me, this answer is not difficult…I have a couple of accessory workhorses that I seem to wear all the time. Yesterday though I was struck by a sense of creative curiosity. I was looking for a way to repurpose my favorite accessories so I could wear them multiple ways without having to commit to a total re-haul.
I have come up with a few tips and tricks to repurpose your favorite baubles and trinkets. These techniques are super simple and will take you about 3 minutes to do.
Let’s get started, shall we?
First off is the old “earrings to necklace trick”. You will need:
- chain necklace
- earrings with posts and backs (one, two, or three sets will do!)
Slip one of your biggest earrings through the center of your chain and put on the earring back. Then put an earring of the next largest size on either side, and finish off by putting the smallest set on.
Voila…insta-statement necklace! Just take off the “pendants” when you want to wear your earrings normally again.
Second, let’s turn a bracelet into a necklace. You will need:
- Thin chain necklace
- Favorite bracelet
Simply loop and secure the thin chain through each end of the bracelet and you have a brand new necklace! You can wear it as is, or over a silk scarf.
Pretty neat, huh? Just unhook the thin chain necklace and your bracelet is wrist ready again.
Finally. transform your favorite scarf into a vest! It is so simple and only takes a few steps.
- Fold scarf in half in a lengthwise, so it’s half the original length
- Tie the top left corner and the top right corner together
- Open it up
- Put it on
- Add a belt if you want for some waist definition.
How cute is that? When you need some neck warmth, just untie the ends!
With these fun tips and tricks, you can create some unique and one of a kind accessories.
