Fall into Autumn: Transitioning Your Summer Staples to Fall Fashions

Labor Day has come and gone and fall is officially in the air (I walked to my 8 am class in 50 degree weather…brrr!!) I was seriously regretting my decision to wear linen shorts and a sheer blouse. This type of situation happens to me every year. I go back to college with way too many summer clothes, and not enough warm days to wear them…I can’t help it though, summer is my season! With this particular dilemma in mind, I decided to jump right back into the world of academia and some solve problems! (Ok, it’s a fashion problem, but that still counts right?) Just follow these equations to transition your summer staples to fall fashions.

1 summer dress +1 jacket OR 1 cardigan (in a corresponding color) + neutral scarf+ riding boots+opaque tights= the ability to wear a summer dress year round!

BEFORE:

AFTER:

(Does the dress look familiar? I wore it to the concert in the last post and will be wearing it much more!)

Another great summer staple to transition into fall is your pastel jeans!

1 pair pastel jeans+1 neutral cardigan (can be a print, as long as it has blacks, grays, browns, tans, or taupes)+ 1 pair riding boots+ scarf OR belt=a type of pastel outfit you can rock when the leaves start falling!

On a final note, just because fall in in the air doesn’t mean that you have to retire your favorite summer items. In the wise words of Tim Gunn from Project Runway,  “Make it work.”
